Yoga With Grace: Neighborhood Yoga

Juliette Campbell is a mother, yoga teacher, vegan and doula. Together with his partner Michael, he has created Yoga with Grace to teach and share.
Graceful yoga

At 21 I had my daughter, who has already turned 23. I was not supposed to get pregnant because my uterus is heart-shaped and a baby could not grow between so many folds. Charlotte could.

I had an incredible delivery thanks to a gynecologist who trusted me. This man gave me a great gift: he empowered me to nurture and to accompany future mothers.

The birth of my daughter was my first “yoga moment”: a super powerful act that made my whole being dance.

18 years ago I left Paris and landed directly in the heart of the Gracia district of Barcelona. At that time, I lived and raised my daughter doing the most unlikely jobs, as well as practicing yoga and teaching classes.

Yoga had come into my life after a traffic accident. They had told me that the aftermath and the pain would be with me forever. However, after a month of practicing kundalini every day – which at that time seemed like a strange yoga to me – they had disappeared.

So I decided to train as a teacher to share the magic of yoga.

I taught hatha and kundalini classes in borrowed spaces, just because of my desire to share. I wanted yoga to be affordable for everyone, physically and economically. Pregnant women began to come, so many that they themselves spontaneously started prenatal classes.

The Adventure of Yoga with Grace

In 2004 I traveled to India and on the banks of the Ganges I met my husband. And the following year I started the adventure of Yoga with Grace thanks to their unconditional support.

We are 12 years old and we have two spaces in the neighborhood : Alegre and Norte. Both have been created with recycled material, a lot of wood, a lot of love & sweat, and with Michael, my superman. He has helped me recycle the doors, wood and objects found on the streets of the neighborhood and give them a second life inside the Yoga con Gracia rooms.

We offer 7 days of yoga a week and different styles, so that everyone can find their practice and their moment: prenatal and postnatal, for children, jivamukti, kundalini, hatha, yin yoga …

My great teachers

Being a single mother, my passion and dedication for yoga has given me the wings to travel and train with great teachers.

I studied with Gurmukh (kundalini and prenatal yoga), in India and New York; and with Sharon Gannon and David Life (jivamukti), in New York and Costa Rica. In France I learned about natural childbirth with Michel Odent, and in Tennessee I was trained in the community of midwives of Ina May Gaskin.

But my true guide on this path is Marisa Drago. Midwife, mother and teacher, she is the one who has taught me the art of accompanying pregnant women and being a better doula at each delivery.

Prenatal yoga, two beings in full harmony

For me the prenatal yoga is the most important. We help two beings to be in harmony and have a good encounter. Thanks to the classes, many women experience pregnancy, childbirth (often natural) and their motherhood in a radically different and positive way.

We want to awaken in the pregnant woman the confidence in her body ; unlearn what this society so disconnected from the human and the mammal has transmitted to us. In the classes we attach great importance to movement and conscious breathing, and we try to convey love and vitality.

Women come to feel and move their precious bodies, full of life. We root them, make them laugh, make them dance and look within.

Juliette Campbell is the creator of a friendly and affordable neighborhood yoga workshop for everyone.

A “funny” community that shares experiences and projects. This is the Yoga with Grace dreamed of by Juliette.

After twelve years of accompanying births, Juliette teaches her own prenatal and postnatal yoga training.

Juliette has a mantra: Lokah samasta sukhino bavhantu (I contribute to the happiness and freedom of all beings).
