Let’s Not Compete: In This Race We Will Reach The Finish Line Together

These days when all that competitiveness continues to emerge. All that need to find culprits. It would be nice if we were nicer. That we practice solidarity much more. That we review our atrocious individualism. Because we don’t have to compete with anyone.

They teach us from the beginning to be competitive.
To take down the one in front.
To get more than the other.
Show off.
To see others as enemies to beat.

They teach us to look at what the next person gets.
To copy us.
To envy.

They teach us that the more we have the more we are worth.
As if being able to buy something automatically makes us better people.
As if money had to do with your quality as a human being.

They teach us to be totally unhappy with our reality.
To long for what we did not have.
To desire what we will not have.

To do the impossible to ascend an invisible ladder.
To seek recognition at all costs.
To show our acquisitions and to be loved for them.

They teach us never to be satisfied.
With nothing.
To despise again and again all the things that we do have.
Our living bodies.

The Sun that returns every fucking day.
They teach us to forget that we exist.
So that we pay to change.
We want to change everything.

They teach us not to conform.
Although any breath is already a lot.
Be even too much.

They predispose us to fight.
Although we do not know why or for what.
There we are.
Self-absorbed.

Fighting for an unknown trophy.
For a short-lived applause.

They teach us to win.
But nobody teaches us to lose.
And boy do we lose.

We lose the people we love.
We lose our jobs.
We lose our pets.

Because sometimes you do everything right.
And you are the last.

Nobody teaches us what to do with frustration.
With that rage directed at those who were successful.
As if the triumph were something external that someone unknown can delimit.
And not yourself.

These days when all that competitiveness continues to emerge.
All that need to find culprits.
It would be nice if we were nicer.

That we practice solidarity much more.
That we review our atrocious individualism.
Because we don’t have to compete with anyone.

We have to put ourselves in the shoes of others.
We have to help each other.
Than to be empathetic.

Because this is a hurricane.
Without a hint of wind.
And when this is over.
There is going to be a lot to rebuild.

This is not the time for rivalries.
This is not the time for revenge, or revenge, or to get medals.
It’s time to pitch in.

To come together to try to save everything that can be saved.
And to be more united.
Than we could ever be.
